Google Maps is a Google service offering powerful, user-friendly mapping technology and local business information-including business locations, contact information, and driving directions. The service offers satellite imagery (or a satellite image with superimposed map data) of all locations in the world and draggable maps for many areas around the world.
Google launched Africa map data in November 2006. The map data used is supplied by AND Automotive Navigation Data (AND). The AND map data for North Africa offer the highest coverage available in the market. All cities and roads in Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Libya, Tunisia and Western Sahara are included on the map and all the capitals can be found in full detail. You can find an example here.
All major cities and roads in South Africa are also included. All other countries offer a major road network with many cities and villages included. In total more than 1.3 million of kilometers have been included.
